Today there’s an usrah group discussion been held. And thus, its a waste if I couldn’t share what I’ve learnt and may this benefit us in a way that will lead to Jannah (ameen!) 😀 The discussion was long, about 2 hours thus I shall separate the content into several different entry, InsyaAllah.
O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become taqwa (righteous) [ Al-Baqarah: 183]
Among many other months, one month has been selected by Allah where its degree is uplifted, were blessed thoroughly and full of many wonders – that is Ramadhan. In al-Baqarah, ayah 183 it is said that if we performed fasting the way those previous as did, may we become a righteous person. Righteous or in its Arabic word “taqwa” literally means fear of Allah. In a deeper scope it means doing something in conscious of Allah. Knowingly Allah Sees us and Allah Hear us of everything we do. Even from the smallest atomic to the largest universe, Allah Knows. Even from a whisper sound of gill fish to the loud supersonic frequency, Allah Knows. Nothing escapes Allah’s Knowledge (Subhanallah)
In a conversation between Umar r.a and Ubay r.a, taqwa is described in an interesting analogy.
Umar al- Khattab once asked Ubay ibn Kaab about Taqwa. Ubay said, “Have you ever walked on a path that has thorns on it?”. Umar said, “Yes.”. Ubay asked, “What did you do then?” to which Umar replied, “I rolled up my sleeves and struggled.” Ubay said, “That is taqwa, to protect oneself from sin through life’s dangerous journey so that one can successfully complete the journey unscathed by sin.”
This life that is presented to us is a thorny journey. Obstacles and problems arose everyday, never end. I can’t remember when I actually become ‘problem-free’ person, not even once. But Alhamdulillah, from the worse we manage to surpass. And as we managed so, if only taqwa is with us.
Allah is Most Merciful, He rewarded us Ramadhan for us to take it granted. For us to use and maximize it wisely. In my hometown, today is the third of Ramadhan. We still have insyaAllah 27 days to go before Syawal arrive. Thus let’s start setting goals so that our Iman and Taqwa increase by 30th Ramadhan. I’m implementing something new now, trying to force myself to do it for I believe the best month to start a change is Ramadhan 😀 And if you have things you want to improve too, come join me and let’s do it together. I pray for you and may you pray for me as well. May Allah ease us on this.
